Listening to ‘Happy’ still makes me feel good!

As part of a teaching program I was asked to speak on ‘Overcoming Fear’, in doing so I included the 4 HAPPY Chemicals.

So, listen to Pharrell again and read of the following – enjoy, dance, feel good and

Stay Happy!

Dopamine: The brain’s reward and pleasure centre, encouraging further action leading to further reward. Great to help you achieve your goals. Assures you’ll feel more alive, focused, productive, and motivated.

Want more?

  • Eating a well balanced diet

  • Physical exercise,

  • Meditation,

  • Listen to music

  • Have a good sleep

  • Proper goal-setting techniques.

  • Therapeutic massage

  • Keep slim

  • Get into a cold shower -increases dopamine by 250%

Serotonin: Gives feelings of importance promoting survival.

Serotonin is known as the ‘Don’t worry, be happy’ neurotransmitter, helping learning and memory, sleep, mood balance, self-confidence, and great for parties or social engagement. Plus, it helps us not to worry so much

Want more?

  • Eating the right foods. c.f Dr Axe

  • Exercise, it’s a serotonin intervention

  • Therapeutic massage

  • Get into the sun

  • Remember happy thoughts

Oxytocin: Good feelings when you’re with someone you love & trust, it regulates social interaction, mum to baby bonding, empathy, generosity, sex and orgasm. Often called ‘the love hormone.’

Want more?

  • Hug or kiss 8 + times a day

  • Stroke you pet

  • Tell someone you love them, each time = oxytocin hit

  • Smile at people

  • Laugh

  • Have great sex

Endorphin: Known as ‘the runners high’ bringing a feeling of euphoria, triggering positive feelings in the body, similar to morphine and masking physical pain after 15 minutes.

Want more?

  • Strenuous exercise.

  • Dark Chocolate, Spicy Foods, Alcohol

  • Sharing experiences with a friend

  • Laughing and crying - stimulate small bursts of endorphin!

  • The average child laughs 300 times per day.
